Jess is a homegrown talent.

She started her fitness journey at Catalyst almost a decade ago. Her client story is here; but this is her coaching story.

Several years ago, Jess was considering a change in her life: she enjoyed her job but wanted to help people find fitness and health. Like so many others, she signed up for our Advanced Theory Course. But most members of the Catalyst family who take the ATC simply want to learn more: Jess wanted to use it as the first step to coaching.

She started taking a few 1:1 clients–still her favorite–and then became CrossFit certified to lead groups. That certification was followed by USAW (weightlifting) which is still her primary passion. Jess took over as GM nearly three years ago, and the gym now reflects her personality: fun, empathetic and focused on self-improvement.

Miranda is one of the most positive people in Sault Ste. Marie, and an inspiration to professional working moms. A bootcamp instructor for over a decade, Miranda found Catalyst years ago and never looked back. Now she competes in CrossFit and her lifetime goal is to inspire other women to take action!

I was inspired to become a coach by watching the coaches at Catalyst. I saw their power to help their clients (including me) get happy and improve their lives.

My favorite thing about coaching is watching my clients overcome personal barriers and get a feeling of accomplishment. There’s really nowhere else in life that happens. Then they leave with a smile, and I know I’ve made their day better.

I think everyone should have a coach you work harder when someone is watching you. If you’re just doing it on your own, it’s really easy to lose motivation or procrastinate.

I personally love doing CrossFit, but I love coaching even more!

Karly Meincke

Karly Meincke is a Registered Dietitian, certified CrossFit L1 coach and joyful athlete.

Karly frequently teaches morning classes, because it’s her biggest opportunity to “make someone’s day”.

Her nutrition practice (Fuel Up Nutrition) is right next door in the TwoBrain building, and Karly’s around the gym most days working with group classes, running programs and ID clients. She’s a huge part of what makes us “the happy gym”!
