Amanda Lambert: Just The Beginning

I've heard of cross fit/catalyst for a few years now but I never fully understood what it was. I was content going to the gym I have gone to for years and doing the same old workout. It wasn't until I felt like I had reached some sort of plateau that made me realize I NEED A CHANGE. My aunt Eva continuously said great things about Catalyst and her personal trainer Chris and I though to myself, what do I have to lose? I decided that maybe I need a huge change in my life and before I knew it I signed myself up for 20 personal training sessions.

Words can't even describe what I like most about CrossFit. Every day I never know what to expect. These workouts are quick but yet intense and after 2 weeks I can already see my body change. Seeing results so quickly is making me want to stay at it and to stay motivated. Its such a positive environment and everyone is there to see you succeed. So I guess the best part is the upbeat environment catalyst has and that these workouts are so incredible that if you stick with it you will see results quickly.

Like most people when they start a new workout regime I need to have more confidence with myself. Apparently I think I can get through the "Fran" workout for FranFest 2012 so as of right now I need to really focus on that and believe in myself. However I know that with the support catalyst brings and if I put my mind and my heart into this I can accomplish it.

Even though I have only been going to catalyst for a short period of time one of my favourite CF moment was when I told Mel my personal trainer that my goal is to do a pull-up by christmas so she got me practicing pull-ups and chris took a picture of me attempting to do one put it on fbook for every one to see. His enthusiastic attitude made me think- he actually cares about his clients that come in and wants to see them succeed. Its a great feeling knowing you have a lot of people who believe in you and want to see you succeed and not fail.

The only advice I can give to newcomers is DON"T BE SCARED. I was scared of doing something different and getting out of my comfort zone but when I did I can truly say it was the best decision I have ever made. Ive been going through some situations in my life and when I go to catalyst I forget all about them and just have a great time while I am there. I feel like catalyst is my new family and I'm happy every single day going to see mel my trainer or whether she gives me homework to do on my own. I feel like I got my happiness and my life back.
