Whit made her CrossFit debut as part of an 'invitational' group in 2008. After Ty volunteered to throw himself under the CrossFit bus for a month in February, and Mike in March, we extended the invitation to several Catalyst clients to try it as part of a free group. Frankly, it looked so different that we were scared to charge money for it. Kris Kubis was in that group, and the next month, Philsy was there, too. I started with that first group (downtown.) idn't have racks, so partners would lift the bar to the athlete's shoulders and they'd walk underneath. We couldn't drop bars, and our barbells were fatter than the standard. Once, when we tried "Michael" as a group, Ty was almost hit by a car. It was instantly obvious that this was the message we wanted to share with everyone else.
