From the world of research: Physical fitness improves spatial memory, increases size of hippocampi
One of the things I love best about Catalyst Gym: it's a crowd of individuals. There are no Ken dolls (mass-produced drones doing the same workout forever.) Everyone here has a good story. Last night, coaching Bench Group, the Gym hosted a bodybuilder, an auto mechanic, an Olympic Lifter, a couple of new Crossfitters (looked like she beat him!) and a pro MMA fighter. When a new gymnast client arrived at noon yesterday, she opened the door to find a martial artist and a local business owner, crashed on the floor after the WOD, and wondered what she'd gotten herself into. Yesterday at 6am, we had two oilmen bumping shoulders with a senior football player from St. Mary's, a Crossfit Coach, our female Deadlift Champ, and a new Crossfit star who was up early so she didn't wake her two little kids before she drove to work. Three snapshots of very different crowds, brought together by Catalyst and Crossfit.
The MMA fighter, by the way, was Brent Fryia. That's him headlining on March 14. Ray Gowlett's pretty mug is up front on the poster (second from the left.) Come to the Gym, do Murph, and then head to St. Ignace to watch Brent and Ray fight! Sounds like a great day!
