Betty Eternal

Megan Barbell Betty has been around for a year.

Bettys have been featured in some more memorable posts, like Thursday Night Betty, and Return of The Betty.  They've celebrated together, consoled one another, and spent more time cheering than any other "fitness" group, before or since….and not an elliptical trainer in sight.

Six weeks ago, a new Betty entered the arena. Steph Parniak quickly wiped clean the record board, and then refilled it. Frankly, she's up there so often that she now brings her own supply of pink chalk.

This is her, post-Virtualmeet (where she deadlifted 330lbs,) back squatting 300lbs. Former Catalyst record, pre-Steph: 215lbs. That's, um, a bit of a difference.

But a Betty doesn't rest, does she? A Betty is concerned not just with the end result, but the quality; it's not enough to PR on a deadlift, but she has to be good at double-unders, too. This is the Catalyst equivalent of cleaning the house before bed: no, no one else will know.  But Betty will.  Betty HAS to keep looking up and ahead.  A Betty keeps learning, keeps striving.

Time to Betty up.

Level II Bettys – Focusing on Olympic lifting (clean and jerk and snatch and all sorts of other higher-technique movements) – starts tonight!  Call your bar here! If that doesn't work, just show up and we'll get you sorted out tonight at 5:30.

On Monday, a new group of Baby Bettys will nervously toe the platforms. Wanna be one of them? You can sign up online here.
