There was a lot to be proud about in the gym yesterday. Some big deadlift PRs, some little ones, and some recovered ones. With CrossFit, even if you don’t train a lift regularly, you can still improve; there’s overlap, and we exploit that overlap.
A deadlift is really just hip extension. We work to improve hip extension every day, with kettlebell swings, sprinting, and squatting. Training a max lift requires using heavy weights, but not exclusively and not always in the exact same lift. The kettlebell swing helps, just like rowing and metabolic conditioning helps running. Exploitation of these overlaps is what makes CrossFit great.
What about the cognitive/physical overlap? What if one was only maximized through improvement of the other?
