The Future of CrossFit: State of The Community.  The Reebok 10-year sponsorship deal, more events…good stuff!

Isotonic training (holding a position, or struggling against equal resistance) is important for learning postural and joint control. It's frequently used for rehabilitation, but also has important implications in everyday life: "Here, honey, hold this up while I clean under there…." "Hey buddy, hold on a sec while I find the right key…." "Hey! Lock out that jerk!"

Since we can hold up to 60% more than we can move dynamically, our joints (including our vertebrae) can benefit from static loading.  You'll become stronger in the exact angle of hold: not great for building a dynamic strength like running, but terrific at improving core posture and bracing.  Also a terrific mental test.
