Only one minute will separate Events 2 and 3 of the Catalyst Games.
In Event 2, athletes will perform a max front squat ladder.
Each athlete will squat the barbell from a standing position to a full squat and return to standing within one minute. Then they’ll move to the next. There will only be 6 bars, with equal jumps in weight between them. They will be heavy.
If an athlete misses a lift, they will continue through the ladder but will not be able to make an attempt at a heavier weight. Instead, they’ll stand in front of the bar (probably avoiding eye contact with others.)
After the sixth bar, athletes will have 1 minute to walk to a shuttle run course.
3 distances (10m,20m,30m) will earn 1 point, 2 points and 3 points, respectively.
Athletes will have 3 minutes to accumulate as many points as possible in the shuttle run.
Events 2 and 3 are close together, but graded separately; points from Event 3 aren’t added to weight lifted in Event 2.
If fatigued, an athlete may rest as much as they like before starting the shuttle. However, their 3:00 time will count down as they rest.
Partners and teams will progress through the ladder with slightly lighter weights, and will approach the shuttle as a relay after the last team member finishes their squat.
