1 Snatch, 2 OHS every minute on the minute for 12:00
Then:
AMRAP in 18:00
100 kb swings (this is a buy-in. Just do it once.)
20 Pistols (alternating)
10 Power Snatch 115/75#
5 Burpee Box Jumps 30/24″
Why the buy-in?
Staring down a workout is sometimes the hardest part. When you hear, “3,2,1…” the anxiety crests, then washes out after the first rep. In CrossFit, as in life, anticipation is usually worse than the event, because action always solves the problem.
Today’s buy-in isn’t challenging; it just takes awhile, and that time will be determined by your mental fortitude. How many more swings can you do before you drop the kettlebell? 10? Can you get to 50 first, or will your brain start throwing questions in your path?
The fastest times in today’s workout will be determined by the act of getting over that big road bump fastest, and then making the decision to start on the pistols right away. None of these things need be heavy other than the burden of choice. Moving from buy-in to AMRAP without a break; avoiding breaks during the AMRAP…it’s all mental. And that’s our goal.
The buy-in will elevate your heart rate, yes. It will fatigue your weakest parts–grip, usually–and give you EVERY reason you need to quit.
Don’t.
