I am complementing the WODs with light, short workouts at the gym, hopefully gaining a bit of strength and endurance. I’m also mountain biking as much as I can.
They are all pretty challenging. I guess my best would be anything involving box jumping and shorter runs. But I wouldn’t say that means those exercises are a strength, they are just not as difficult for me as some of the others.
Anything involving a lot of legs, or reps of 15 pull-ups and over. I still haven’t mastered kipping pull-ups. And burpees. Any more than 10 burpees and I’m not feeling so well.
Crossfit is valuable to me in a lot of ways; its humbling, challenging, and rewarding all at the same time. I did the weightlifting routine at the gym for several years, (chest Monday, back Tuesday, etc.) and found it very boring and monotonous. And I definitely wasn’t fit. I’ve also happily discovered that crossfit has helped a lot with my job — carrying gear around for long amounts of time while sometimes waiting for quick, short, bursts of action that I need to capture. People on trial at the courthouse will tell you it’s a lot more difficult to escape me while running to their cars.
