"In spite of…."

A very wise older gentleman once told me that life brings with it a string of challenges, that once we 'get through' one challenge, it's not long before another is around the corner.  I have personally endured some rather difficult challenges in life, but I think it's safe to say that in one way or another we all have.  The question becomes about how we choose to live our lives around these troublesome times.  Do we choose the "as soon as" strategy….I will eat healthier as soon as….., I will start working out as soon as….., or do we embrace the 'in spite of' strategy…."I will run 10k in spite of….","I will eat better in spite of…", "I will spend time with family in spite of…".  As a person who has lived a philosophy of "in spite of", I can tell you with certainty that with every accomplishment," in spite of" a life challenge, I have gained not only the strength to overcome the odds, but I have achieved great personal satisfaction and confidence. My next challenge is a half marathon in spite of a massive knee injury less than a year ago.  The majority of people respond to that goal with "your crazy, or don't you think that's too much", but not Chris Cooper and the catalyst family.  The NO EXCUSES philosophy, along with a group passion to live your "best" life and set no boundaries to what you can achieve, has helped to give me the strength to push forward "in spite of".
